What is Juvo

JUVO (Junior Volleyball) is the name of the outdoor junior tournament founded by Tony Pennock in 1987.  It started life at Chase Cross in Colliers Row.  All taking place indoors in one sportshall and one gymnasium some 33 teams participated from 17 schools in age groups u15 boys and girls, u17 girls and u19 boys.   It enjoyed its 18th birthday in June 2004 when over 100 teams competed in the bright sun of the field surrounding the Brentwood International Centre.  since 2007 it has been part of Voleyball England's Lets Play Volleyball tournamnet series.

Over the years the venue moved from Chase Cross to Redden Court School and in 1998 to Brentwood International Centre and has continued to thrive.  The age groups and number of players per side has changed over the years but still caters for a wide range of abilities.

The aim of the event has been participation in a structured competitive environment.   Senior volleyball players from across the county are involved in organising and refereeing and many of the youngsters have gone on to play for Essex clubs and represent both the county and East Region in competitions.  Many return to help with the event.

One of the largest tournaments of its kind it caters from varying age groups to reflect demand ofetn from under 11 year olds up to 16 and over and attracts teams from throughout the Eastern Region, London and beyond.
