Welcome to Chelmsford Volleyball Club - Competitions

Essex Volleyball Association runs a number of competitions on both a league and cup
basis. Matches are played during a season running from September to March with successful
cup runs leading to further matches up to the finals in June. We currently run teams in
all competitions.
There are four cup competitions. Our progress can be tracked through clicking on the blue
name of the cup. The Rucanor Cup is open
to all clubs; teams losing in round 1 go into the Tachikara Plate competition. There is a
separate Ladies competition, the Janet Bedford
Cup. There is also a Handicap Cup competition, now renamed Phillips-Manning Cup, that is unique to the
county. In this competition the starting scores are adjusted to reflect the strength of
the teams and sets played up to 30 points. We enter the Rucanor and Phillips-Manning Cups
All other league and cup matches are best of five sets using the standard scoring
system that every rally wins a point, with the winner the first to 25 points and two
points clear. The fifth set if required is to 15 points and two points clear. The club
will provide match playing shirts and shorts.
At each match we ask the officials to nominate the player who has contributed most to the
teams performance and their names are shown with the result
