First up were the first team in Handicap Cup action against Exiles. With the Handicap favouring Exiles by 9 points in every set which is first to 30, this was a tough ask and the Chelmsford team of Paul Bohannan (coach), Stuart Fairley, Anash Vora, Claudia Lambert, Laszlo Maklary, Steve Peacock and Rachel Bohannan got very close in every set eventually going down 3-1. Set scores 28-30, 28-30, 30-29, 28-30. In the end it was the tall central block of Exiles that made the difference and not even Maklary, Chelmsford’s player of the match could overcome this frequently enough to edge the sets. All hopes in this competition now rest on the second team
